Seminar on Improving Calf Rearing Management organised

Improving Calf Rearing Management Important to Achieve Long Term Profitability for Dairy Business: Healthy Calves, Growing Well

Solve Agri Pak (Private) Limited in collaboration with Schils B.V. Netherlands organised an interactive seminar on "Improving Calf Rearing Management" on October 24, 2019 at Bahria Grand Hotel in Lahore as a part of SAPPL-Schils' drive for creating awareness on calf rearing management.

The session was attended by over 50 representatives from corporate dairy farms, commercial dairy farms and other progressive dairy farmers involved in calf rearing as a part of their livestock & dairy enterprises. The session was facilitated by Mr. Steef Woude (International Sales Manager at Schils) and Mr. Arend (Calf Rearing Specialist at Schils) from Schils B.V. Netherlands. Present on the occasion were Solve Agri Pak's Chairman, Mr. Haroon Lodhi, General Manager Dr. Waseem Shaukat, Commercial Manager Mr. Asif Ashfaq and Sales & Marketing Manager Mr. Waqas Raza, among others.

Solve Agri Pak's Chairman Mr. Haroon Lodhi in his welcome address elaborated the philosophy of Solve Agri Pak and its partnership with Schils for last several years in pursuance of improving calf rearing management in Pakistan. He said that SAPPL-Schils partnership brings best quality products and technical support to the Pakistani farmers in improving their calf rearing management. Mr. Steef Woude from Schils highlighted the background of VanDrie Group and lauded that VanDrie Group is largest players in European veal beef market and the group raises over 1.5 million calves every year and offers complete farm to folk solutions. He highlighted that Schils B.V. is a subsidiary of VanDrie Group and is specialised in young animal nutrition. He mentioned that Schils produces high quality products for young animals of different species especially calves, lambs and kids and supply in over 80 countries around the world. He highlighted that Schils products are of top quality that are produced using the latest technology to prepare these specialised products. He elaborated different types of products mainly Calf Milk Replacers that are available in Pakistan in collaboration with Solve Agri Pak and urged the farmers to choose the right product and use in right way.

Mr. Arend presented on his experience to improve calf rearing management, focusing on key issues related to calf rearing including nutrition, housing, health and management. He facilitated and moderated a highly interactive discussion on various issues related to calf rearing. The participants took special interest in the discussion on various issues that they are facing practically on their farms related to calf rearing. International experts helped participants in addressing their issues and facilitating in calf rearing management. The experts also enlightened the role of Calf Milk Replacer (CMR) in feeding young calves (both male and female) and how CMR can prove to be extremely good replacement of milk to attain efficient calf rearing goals.

In his concluding remarks, Solve Agri Pak's General Manager Dr. Waseem Shaukat said that Solve Agri Pak in collaboration with Schils have been helping Pakistani farmers with high quality products to help improve their calf rearing management. He said that Solve Agri Pak will soon be introducing specialised milk replacers for lambs/kids and for buffalo calves in order to support sheep / goat and buffalo farmers in efficiently raising their young animals. He emphasised that Solve Agri Pak's unique solutions for calf rearing includes complete support for raising calves to high yielding cows for long term profitability.
